Minilaparotomy (AKA: Mini Lap) has played a major role in transforming female sterilization into a quick, highly effective, safe outpatient procedure that is performed with the aid of local anesthesia.

The procedure uses an abdominal approach to the fallopian tubes by means of an incision no more than 5cm in length. This procedure safely occludes the fallopian tubes and has been safely performed in many industrialized and 3rd world countries for over 30 years.
